Intestinal obstruction catheter
Effectively aspirates intestinal contents, rapidly relieves abdominal pain and distension, reduces or eliminates bowel wall edema, resolves obstruction, and helps avoid surgery.
Overcomes the limitations of conventional gastrointestinal contrast studies caused by overlapping bowel loops, and allows dynamic observation of the rate at which contrast medium is injected through the catheter.
Can also be used to administer traditional Chinese medicine enemas or provide enteral nutritional support through the intestinal obstruction catheter as an adjuvant therapy.
Decompression via the intestinal obstruction catheter simplifies subsequent surgery, makes operative procedures easier to perform, and increases the success rate of primary anastomosis after bowel resection.

Silicone Anal Tube
- Continuous low-pressure suction: The drainage tube is connected to a negative-pressure device and, through multiple side holes at its tip, continuously aspirates feces, gas, and fluid that have accumulated distal to the obstruction, thereby rapidly reducing intraluminal pressure.
- Physical decompression: The core pathological change in intestinal obstruction is bowel dilatation with increased intraluminal pressure, which compresses the mural vessels and leads to bowel wall edema, ischemia, and even necrosis and perforation; timely drainage and decompression interrupt this process.
- Symptom relief: As bowel distension is reduced, severe abdominal pain and distension are quickly relieved.
- Reduction of edema: Restoration of blood and lymphatic return in the bowel wall allows tissue edema to gradually diminish and resolve.
- Restoration of blood supply: Improvement of the bowel wall microcirculation helps prevent ischemic necrosis and creates favorable conditions for the spontaneous recovery of intestinal function.
- Avoidance of surgery: In selected types of obstruction, such as adhesive, paralytic, or fecal impaction-related intestinal obstruction, effective conservative management (fasting, fluid resuscitation, gastrointestinal decompression plus anorectal drainage) can relieve the obstruction as edema subsides and peristalsis returns, thus avoiding more traumatic surgical intervention.
- Material safety: Medical-grade silicone has excellent biocompatibility, does not irritate the intestinal mucosa, and can be left in place for a relatively long time, making it suitable for patients who require continuous drainage.
- Patient comfort: Compared with traditional rigid and bulky rectal tubes, the silicone tube is very soft with a blunt, rounded tip, which markedly reduces patient discomfort and the risk of tissue injury, thereby improving tolerance.
